VINTAGE FRENCH PARIS SILK TOP HAT AND BOX

Description

A fabulous antique vintage French top hat still with it's original box .
a day at races sir
Glossy very black plush silk with ribbon trim.Silk and calf skin lining.
There is a makers mark:
AL DR LEMARCHAND
VILLEDIEU-LES-POELES
MADE HERE IN NORMANDY
There are the initials elg who was presumable the person this hat belonged to.
The measurements are approx:
5.5 inches - 15 cms in height.
The brim is 11 x 9 inches - 28 x 24 cms.
The inner circumference is 22.5 inches - 57 cms.
This is a very good small size, which is very hard to find.
There is some small indents and  a 1" tear in the silk as in photo, hardly noticed when worn.

There are some scuffs and marks from life in an armoire.
A truly splendid top hat .
