    AUTHENTIC Maasai Shield In RARE Condition. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
    This late 19th - early 20th Century Maasai shield is in condition rarely seen on similar examples. The Buffalo leather shield was rubbed with wax, keeping the leather in great condition. The reinforced leather around the handle helped prevent the warrior from having his hand damaged by a spear or arrow in battle.
    The Maasai are known to be some of the best warriors in Africa. Their shields were much more than just a tool of war but also an object to show the rank of the warrior who made it. Each shield was made by the warrior who used it. These shields were sacred to the warrior with each design being unique and unlike the others.
